Health & SecurityThe safety and security of our students has been our number one priority since 1975. Our well-trained staff are on-duty 24 hours a day both on and off campus. Additionally, both universities provide electronically controlled entrances to all dorms. Furthermore, virtually every one of our staff is CPR and First Aid Certified along with at least one staff member having trained as an EMT or nurse. Routine doctor's appointments while at summer camp are arranged through a local urgent care facility. For 24-hour emergency care while at the University of Virginia, students are taken to one of two superb medical facilities within minutes of the campus: University of Virginia Medical Center or Martha Jefferson Hospital. And while at Stony Brook University students are taken to the University Hospital which is just minutes away. Our staff will handle all arrangements for medical care including appointments, transportation, obtaining medication and follow-ups. Parents are responsible for all medical bills incurred by students while at camp. Medical Requirements4 Star requires a physical exam prior to arrival at summer camp. A Medical Release, which needs to be signed by the healthcare provider and parents, will be mailed to you upon receipt of your deposit/application and is available for printing from the appropriate Camp Packet in our Forms Library. The completed Medical Release needs to be returned to our office at least one week prior to check-in, otherwise your child will not be able to participate in the program. Injured or ill students will be given prompt medical attention; however, health and accident expenses are not covered in the tuition cost and will be passed along to the student's parents. Medical InsuranceIf the student is not covered by insurance, a major credit card must be on file or cash on hand at camp. International StudentsWe recommend that all international students to our camps purchase traveler's insurance to cover any illness or injury while at camp. A couple of links outside our website to help you with researching this insurance: ivisitorinsurance.com and www.sevencorners.com Summer Camp Rules4 Star has important rules which help all students enjoy and receive maximum benefits from the camp. There is zero tolerance for the use of illicit substances such as tobacco, drugs, alcohol or weapons. Gambling is not permitted. Students may not behave disrespectfully to staff members or to other campers. Students may not behave disruptively and/or in a manner that limits another student's enjoyment or learning. Curfews are listed in "a typical weekday". Written permission from the parent or guardian is required for a guest to take a student off grounds. The guest must have picture identification and adhere to our normal curfews. A breach of any of these rules may result in expulsion of a student without refund. |
